Prof. Achim Schmitt

Dr Achim Schmitt holds a PhD from the University of Geneva and a Master from FAU Erlangen University in Business, he obtained his Habilitation at the University of Paris-Dauphine in France. He teaches Strategy at the Collège since 2016. He is a Full Professor at Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne and Dean of Graduate School. Academically, Achim has gained experience at the University of Geneva (Switzerland), Collège des Ingenieurs (CDI) in Paris (France), China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) in Shanghai (China), Columbia Business School in New York (USA), Universidad de los Andes in Bogota (Colombia) and Audencia Business School in Nantes (France). Before joining the academic world, Achim was a strategy consultant for multiple years in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. After being an Associated Researcher at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland for more than a decade, Achim currently holds a Visiting Professorship at the University of Geneva as well as an academic board member position at China Europe International Business School (CEIBS). He is also part of two board memberships in the private sector. His research focuses on organizational decline, corporate turnarounds and strategic management that has been published in some of the leading management journals. He formerly served on the scientific board of the International Association of Strategic Management in France and currently serves on the Editorial Board at Long Range Planning.
